88 Points
Ruby red color. Bright cherry aromas dominate
the bouquet. Nuances of spice, crushed wild herbs,
licorice and minerals emerge as the wine opens.
Crushed red fruit flavors surround a core of tart
cherry acidity and silky tannins on the palate. The
finish has a touch of bitterness that complements
the red fruit flavors.

The terroir is calcareous clay, with areas of red
ferrous soil scattered throughout the region. Rioja
Alta is known for producing reds with good acidity
and tannins.
Bodegas Ondarre has a modern new winery with
state-of-the-art equipment that allows them to
vinify their wines under the best conditions.
The different varietals are
fermented individually at controlled temperatures
between 28-30 °C with maceration between 16-18 days.
After fermentation, the wine is carefully aged and
racked before bottling. |
